Tapada do Chaves Vinhas Velhas Red is made from Trincadeira and Grand Noir grapes grown on a 1901‑old vine planted in Tapada and hand‑harvested. It displays a concentrated ruby hue and a complex aroma, with balsamic, “esteva,” earthy, and tobacco notes intertwined with black fruit, plum, and surprising vegetal nuances. The acidity is firm and balanced, providing great structure and robust tannins. The finish is long and persistent, distinguished by a high level of expression and character. Produced in the outskirts of Portalegre, in the Alto Alentejo, Tapada do Chaves wines have been crafted for nearly a century, earning recognition as some of Portugal’s finest. These wines capture the warmth and softness of Alentejo and are rooted in a strong family tradition, a passion for the land, and dedication to quality. They come from the estate’s vines, aged between 15 and 85 years, and are meant to be cellared and savoured later on.
