This wine, hailing from the Terras de Mogadouro, feels plucked straight from a Mirandês fairytale. Cristiano Pires, through his “Wine Indigenus” project, is reviving a lineage of vineyards that, frankly, were taking a rather lengthy nap for centuries. Built on a foundation of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, it delivers a ruby-red wine brimming with aromas of blackberry and wild flowers – a scent that genuinely transports me to the slopes of the Mirandês plateau. The mouthfeel is remarkably full, with tannins so velvety they practically took a private lesson from the wine itself. Perfectly suited for those craving ripe fruit, it pairs beautifully with grilled Mirandês beef, but don’t overlook a hearty Transmontana bean stew or a well-executed salt cod dish. It's a wine that embodies home – a testament to the passion that goes into crafting it.
