This “Trilho” from Pormenor certainly seems to have spent a little too long contemplating the damp schist of the Douro. Initially youthful, with that vibrant violet hue, it’s tempered by a bracing acidity – a boldness that’s undeniable, thanks to the legacy of its ‘Vinhas Velhas’ and the influence of Touriga Nacional. The subtle oak, sourced from French barrels, adds a touch of grace, though perhaps a slightly clumsy one, as if it’s just learning to move with those powerful grapes. Wonderful with grilled fish – honestly, it needs a bit of a kick!
