“Vagüera” is a word used in the municipality of El Maderal, in the province of Zamora, to describe a plot of land that retains a lot of water and is prone to flooding. It is in this type of soil that the only 500 vines of the vineyard from which Álvar de Dios produces just over a thousand bottles of this wine, made entirely from the Doña Blanca grape. After a period of aging on lees, the result is a distinctive white wine that stands apart from others in the region.
