Vale da Raposa In the late 1980s, the Alves de Sousa family acquired the roughly 18 hectares that make up Quinta do Vale da Raposa. This space would become the stage for a notable debut: in 1992, the estate’s first DOC Douro wine was produced, quickly winning the approval of connoisseurs and receiving praise from specialist critics. A hallmark of that success? Its direct inclusion on the prestigious list of the 30 Best Buys in the World, compiled by renowned English journalist Oz Clarke. Since then, Quinta do Vale da Raposa has never stopped innovating. In addition to the emblematic Grande Escolha, produced in the best years, the estate has given rise to a celebrated collection of single‑varietal wines. Among them are the Touriga Nacional, winner of the first major contest for the grape in Portugal and Brazil, and the Tinto Cão, which received the sole Excellence Award in the Douro from Revista de Vinhos in 2000. Today, the Quinta offers a complete line of Douro wines – white, rosé and reds – perfectly translating the unrivaled quality of its terroir. **Vinification**: Total deshelving; gentle pressing and decantation; fermentation at 16 °C for 13 days. **Stage**: 50 % in second‑year French oak barrels; 50 % in stainless‑steel tanks with bâtonnage for six months. **Food pairings**: scallops, salmon, cod, chicken, turkey. **Awards** 17/20 – Grandes Escolhas SKU: 107358
