The Quinta da Ribeirinha is located in Póvoa de Santarém, in the Tagus region. Wine passion—and, more importantly, a constant dedication to viticulture—has been passed down through the Cândido family for generations. José Cândido, the family patriarch, began his career as a farmer at a young age, with wine as his main source of income. A few years later, his son Joaquim Cândido—an MD and wine lover—took over the family business, planting new vineyards, building a private cellar, and applying scientific methods to production as technology advanced. Soon thereafter, Joaquim’s children, Mariana and Rui (an economist and a biochemist), completed the team that now manages the company. Enology is handled by César Machado. (Image purely illustrative)
