After a series of hot and concentrated years, 2021 introduced freshness throughout the vegetative cycle and even during the harvest. The water availability of the Duriense soil strongly influences the vines and the musts. Winter rainfall replenished the reserves up to the ripening stage, but July and August felt the absence of water. However, cooler nights and the lack of the usual heat peaks allowed the ripening to progress in a balanced way. Unexpected September showers compensated the water deficit. Despite threatening vine health and berry concentration, careful monitoring and a decisive harvest time were pivotal to the final quality of the wines.
