One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, once owned by D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira—known as the Ferreirinha—and still held today by her descendants. The Vallado wines had been unjustly forgotten but have now naturally reclaimed their lost time. They are wines of great historical significance in the Douro and deserve a top‑tier position. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest estates in the region, situated near Régua on the banks of the River Corgo. Its future is steered by João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both Ferreirinha heirs responsible for the estate’s management and enology, respectively. (Illustrative image only)
