This Magnum Vallado is a delightful surprise – a serious injection of Viosinho, Gouveio and Códega that really delivers. The nose immediately evokes the cool, mineral character of the Douro’s schistous soils, beautifully complemented by a touch of ripe honeydew melon. On the palate, that initial freshness persists with a lovely length and a welcome citrus lift, perfectly balancing the fruit. Robert Parker’s 88 points are well-deserved; it’s a wine of genuine character and balance – utterly fantastic with grilled fish or a light summer salad.
