One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that once belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and that is still in the hands of her descendants today. The Vallado wines, unjustly forgotten, have naturally reclaimed their lost time. They are wines of great importance in the history of the Douro and deserve to be among the top contenders. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest in the Douro. It is located near Régua, on the banks of the Corgo River. The future of this iconic estate lies in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, who oversee the company and the enology, respectively.
