Quinta do Vallado’s Reserva Branco presents a wonderfully intriguing paradox – a wine deeply influenced by French oak (from the Allier, Vosges, and Nevers regions) yet brimming with the unmistakable character of the Douro Valley. The extended aging in 40% new French oak imparts a pronounced minerality, echoing the granite soils of the Corgo sub-region, alongside beautifully integrated notes of smoked fruit. Critics have been particularly impressed, awarding it 92 points from Robert Parker, and the wine’s vibrant acidity and persistent finish are perfectly matched with grilled white fish, such as sea bass, to fully showcase its complexity.
