One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that once belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and which still today remains in the hands of her descendants. The Vallado wines were unjustly forgotten but have now naturally reclaimed their lost time. They are wines of great significance to the history of the Douro and deserve to be at the pinnacle of any collection. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado ranks among the oldest in the region. It sits near Régua on the banks of the Rio Corgo, with its destiny now in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha and responsible for the estate’s management and enology, respectively.
