One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that once belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira – the Ferreirinha – and that remains today in the hands of her descendants. The Vallado wines were unjustly forgotten and have now naturally reclaimed their lost time. They are wines of great significance in Douro history and deserve to sit among the elite. Founded in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest in the region. It lies just outside Régua, on the banks of the Rio Corgo. The fate of this emblematic estate is in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, who oversee the business and enology, respectively.
