Made from Arinto, Gouveio and Rabigato grapes, it spends about seven months aging in French oak barrels. It delivers a mineral profile, with fruit nicely balanced by smoky notes from the wood. On the palate it is full‑bodied, with good acidity and a long finish. One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro, Quinta do Vallado—once belonging to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira of the Ferreirinha family and still owned by her descendants—has seen its wines, long forgotten, recover their lost glory. Built in 1716, the estate sits near Régua on the banks of the Rio Corgo; its fate rests with João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, descendants of the Ferreirinha, who oversee the business and enology respectively.
