The robust acidity, unsurprisingly, hails from the Sousão grape, but the influence of 40% new oak barrels is far from subtle, layering in notes of wood and tobacco. It’s a wine with plenty of body, yet retains a refreshing quality, finishing with a lovely mineral note – ideal for a hearty roast.
