Vega Sicilia Pintia: Tradition and Modernity in the Heart of the DO Toro Pintia is located on the banks of the Douro River, within the Denomination of Origin Toro. It combines the tradition and unique character of this region with the modernity and elegance of the estate. The Tinta de Toro vines grow on poor, stony, and sandy soils, in a climate marked by low rainfall and strong thermal contrasts. The terroir demands a carefully timed harvest to ensure balanced wines with finesse. The Pintia 2020 originates from vines averaging 35 years old, planted at an altitude of 700 meters, across a total area of 110 hectares distributed among San Román de Hornija, Pedrosa del Rey, Toro, and Morales de Toro. The planting density is 1,000 vines per hectare, with an approximate yield of 3,000 kg/ha (21 Hl/ha). The harvest was carried out manually, in 12‑kg crates, between September 9th and 23rd. 2019 Vine Cycle The year recorded above‑average rainfall, well distributed throughout the season, ensuring the vines had access to water. Spring experienced mild temperatures that allowed for a smooth budburst and flowering, with a uniform and excellent ripening, free of millerandage. Summer brought occasional rains and daily temperature variations, factors that favored the ideal maturation of the grapes. For this powerful and concentrated harvest, extraction was reduced during fermentation and amphorae were introduced during ageing, minimizing the impact of toasting and preserving the wine’s freshness. Storage, Service, and Longevity Potential Pintia 2020 is ready to drink but has superior ageing potential for over 15 years if stored under optimal conditions (12‑14 °C and 60% relative humidity).
