This Juri from Vinha do Contador is a wonderfully perplexing wine, as complex as its name suggests. The deep, granite-hued colour reveals a nose brimming with harmonious notes – you could almost hire a philosopher to decipher it! Extended maceration, flirting with excess, gifts it with an unexpectedly persistent finish, verging on an obsession. And, to top it off, 18 months in French oak (gentle oak, mind you) adds a delicate touch, calling for a truly refined culinary pairing – perhaps alongside something as luxurious as a fine foie gras.
