“Born from the distinctive xisto-calciferous soils of Estremoz, at a lofty 450 metres, this Vinho do Mouro Branco is a truly contemplative wine. The continental Mediterranean climate – that generous warmth – really coaxed out the complexity of the Gouveio, Arinto, and Antão Vaz grapes, alongside a handful of welcomed additions. Harvested by hand and with a gentle 8-hour maceration, followed by a delightfully spontaneous fermentation overseen by the talented Miguel Louro, the result is a wine of remarkable freshness and a bracing acidity that certainly surprises. As Robert Parker noted in 2013 (with a respectable 88/100), and echoing João Paulo Martins' 2015 award (16/20), it’s a wine of undeniable elegance. Best enjoyed with a delicate shellfish or grilled white fish, at a cool 10-12°C – a pairing that’s sure to create a memorable moment.”
