This wine, from a family with five generations of experience, certainly carries a weighty history – almost too much so, perhaps. The deep, vibrant ruby colour initially impresses, but the palate reveals a surprising lightness bordering on fragility. The exuberant aromas don’t always translate fully, leaving a rather abrupt finish and a persistent, slightly unbalanced acidity. It’s a curious wine, best paired with grilled fish or, bravely, a strong, tangy sheep’s cheese.
