Vallegre is a Portuguese company whose shareholders represent the fifth generation of a family deeply rooted in the Douro region, dedicated to producing Port wines and DOC Douro table wines of high quality. Its registered office is at Quinta da Vista Alegre, located on the right bank of the Douro, between the mouth of the Pinhão River and Covas do Douro. The estate’s origins in winemaking predate the 19th century, as inferred from specialist books on grape typologies and some abandoned cellars— the mortuary caves. Quinta da Vista Alegre was acquired by the Cunha Barros family in 1965, later incorporated into the assets of Sociedade Agrícola Barros S.A. Today, without denying its past and the wisdom passed down through generations, Vallegre is a modern, dynamic company, maintaining the primary objective of producing Port wines and DOC Douro of the highest quality. The wines are now sold and enjoyed in more than fifty‑five countries, and the recent awards and distinctions received in various international competitions attest to and recognise the quality of the wines produced at this estate.
