Located on the right bank of the Douro River, between Régua and Pinhão, Quinta do Crasto is an estate of about 130 hectares, of which 70 are planted with vineyards. The company's holdings also include Quinta do Querindelo, with 10 hectares of old vines (Vinha Velha), and Quinta da Cabreira in the Upper Douro, with 114 hectares of vineyards. With a privileged location in the Douro Demarcated Region, Quinta do Crasto has been owned by the Roquette family, Leonor and Jorge, for more than a century. As is often the case with the great Douro estates, the origins of Quinta do Crasto go back to distant times: the name "Crasto" derives from the Latin "castrum," meaning a Roman fort.
