This ruby‑coloured wine expresses aromas of red fruit, with hints of pomegranate, strawberry and plum, blended with balsamic nuances and tomato leaf. On the palate it reveals a vibrant acidity, full of freshness, with very subtle tannins and a lot of fresh, intense fruit. Born and raised in the Ribeira de Santarém, Hugo Mendes studied Biotechnology Engineering but his passion for wine spoke louder, and since the 2006 harvest he has devoted himself entirely to oenology. An advocate of communicating the art to consumers, he is a regular presence on social media and has been running a blog since 2008 dedicated to simplifying oenology for wine lovers. He became a self‑named producer in the 2016 harvest, having launched Portugal’s first crowdfunding campaign to finance a wine. (Illustrative image)
