The deep ruby colour hints at the experience to come, and the ripe black fruit, reminiscent of fresh plums, certainly delivers. A characteristic balsamic complexity from the Douro adds a wonderfully surprising dimension. The fruit dominates on the palate, with tannins so smooth they almost seem to be smiling, and an acidity that ensures perfect balance. Seriously, it pairs beautifully with a good roast or a grilled steak.
