The Quinta da Vacaria Reserva Branco is an elegant wine, with a lemon‑yellow hue, crafted from a blend of Arinto, Viosinho and Rabigato grapes that reveal freshness and complexity. On the nose, aromas of exotic fruits emerge, harmonised with notes of vanilla and oak, very well integrated. On the palate it is full‑bodied, with a lively acidity and a long finish. Quinta da Vacaria, one of the oldest estates in the region (first record dated 1616), sits on the banks of the Douro River next to the town of Régua, in the heart of the world's oldest demarcated wine region, the Douro. At the estate's quay, Rabelo boats would dock to load barrels full of Port wine and transport them to Gaia, at the river mouth, where they were sold wholesale worldwide, leaving behind their hidden identity as these wooden barrels were not even marked with the producer's seal. At the destination, the wine was bottled and labelled with the brand of foreign merchants who bought it, and some of those merchants would gain considerable prestige. (illustrative image)
