Vinification: Winter and spring were quite dry with little rain. Fortunately, the heat wave that swept across Europe did not affect the Douro, leaving an almost perfect summer punctuated by rain on August 25 – ideal for refreshing the vines. The rain was followed by abnormal heat, with temperatures well above 30 °C, so the harvest did not take long. As in previous years, we kept a tight hold on ripening, waiting for the right moment to harvest the different vineyards. As a result of the cooler summer, the white grapes preserved their acidity, meaning the wines ripened excellently, yet with a relatively low pH – a first for us. The combination of good concentration and optimal freshness will allow these wines to age very well.
