The Quinta do Sobral Vinha da Neta is made from the grape varieties Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro and Jaén. The wine fermented in granite vats and aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Its aroma is harmonious and very mineral, with wild‑fruit notes and a slight hint of smoke. On the palate it reveals delicate tannins with prominent fruit and a long, elegant finish. It is at Velho Sobral where Cristina Simões, the founder’s daughter, grows up with her grandparents, learning the art of the land, playing, and most of all discovering love—a love that continues to overflow with pride. She began her dream with sacrifice in 1997. Beginning the annexation of land to Velho Sobral, she also started restoring old vineyards with new plantings and built her cellar in 2000, constantly evolving the technology and space to serve her. The Quinta do Sobral currently has 15 hectares of vines in production and more than 20 hectares of forest, essential to the terroir of Dão wine. Returning to the sacrifices and betting on this project, Cristina Simões, a teacher by profession, and Jorge Loureiro, a hotel manager of a 5‑star complex in England, form a passionate couple with common ideas. They embrace Nelson Simões’ project and, fulfilling their dream, leave behind their well‑established careers to dedicate themselves exclusively to the Quinta do Sobral project. Thus we reach the turning point at Quinta do Sobral, but don’t think it was the arrival of Cristina and Jorge to the project that caused this change; no, it was precisely the arrival of Maria, the daughter, the granddaughter, and the soul of Quinta do Sobral.
