Among the foreign grape varieties grown on Portuguese soil, Syrah is the one that has best adapted to the harsh climate, easily adjusting to summer heat, long hours of sunshine and the severity of summer temperatures. Although the areas of greatest cultivation expansion in Portugal are the wine regions of Lisbon, Tejo, Alentejo, the Setúbal Peninsula and Algarve, Syrah is planted across the whole country, making it interesting to observe the sensory variation of wines produced from this variety. Typically, these are rich wines with aromas of wild fruit and spices.
