One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that once belonged to Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira – the Ferreirinha – and which remains today in the hands of her descendants. Vallado wines were unfairly forgotten for a time, but have now naturally reclaimed their lost glory. They are wines of great significance to the history of the Douro and deserve a place among the very best. Founded in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest estates in the region. It is situated close to Régua, on the banks of the Rio Corgo. The stewardship of this emblematic estate rests with João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of Ferreirinha, who oversee the business and enology, respectively.
