One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that once belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira—known as the Ferreirinha—and that remains in the hands of her descendants today. Vallado wines were unjustly forgotten, but they have now naturally reclaimed their lost time. They are wines of great importance in the history of the Douro and deserve to occupy the highest places. Founded in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest estates in the Douro. It is located near Régua, on the banks of the Corgo River. The fate of this iconic estate rests with João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, who are responsible for the company's management and enology, respectively.
