About this region

Algarve is a Portuguese wine region best known for its sunny and warm Mediterranean climate. It is increasingly acknowledged for producing high-quality wines, predominantly red wines (such as from Castelão and Negra Mole), as well as fresh, full-bodied white wines. The region is divided into four appellations of origin: Lagos, Portimão, Lagoa, and Tavira.
