Mourisco

About this grape variety

An old Douro red grape, Mourisco (sometimes called Mourisco Tinto) is sparsely planted today but historically valued as a Port blending component. Wines are lighter in colour and structure than Touriga Nacional or Touriga Franca, with gentle tannin and red-fruit aromatics. Mostly found in field blends of old vines, where it adds nuance and floral perfume to traditional Ports.
