Pinot Noir

About this grape variety

One of the world's most celebrated and difficult grapes, Pinot Noir requires cool climates and specific soils to express its haunting aromas of red cherry, raspberry, rose petal, forest floor and game. It is the red grape of Burgundy (Côte d'Or producing the global benchmark) and of Champagne (as one of the three blending varieties). Outside France, Oregon's Willamette Valley, New Zealand's Central Otago and Marlborough, Sonoma Coast and Germany's Baden have all become significant Pinot Noir origins.
