Roussanne

About this grape variety

The traditional blending partner of Marsanne in northern Rhône whites, Roussanne brings finesse, aromatic complexity (pear, honey, herbal tea, white flowers) and bright natural acidity. The grape is difficult — small clusters, low yields, late ripening — but yields some of the Rhône's most refined whites. Also a permitted variety in Châteauneuf-du-Pape blanc and central to several great Beaucastel Vieilles Vignes bottlings.
