Síria

About this grape variety

Síria is the modern, official name for the grape known traditionally as Roupeiro in the Alentejo, Codega in Douro and various other regional names — DNA confirmed all are the same grape. Wines tend to citrus and tropical aromatics with medium body and moderate acidity. The variety performs best in cooler sites and at altitude (Beira Interior), where it can yield mineral, ageworthy whites. In the warmer Alentejo it is usually blended with Arinto or Antão Vaz.
