The grape produces wines of distinctive ripe peach, apricot, honeysuckle and ginger aromatics, with a full, oily texture and moderate acidity. Best from very ripe fruit, which produces the trademark perfume. Viognier is sometimes co-fermented with Syrah (as in Côte-Rôtie) to soften and perfume the red.
