The production of Moscatel, as a fortified wine, is similar to that of Port, resulting in sweet wines whose alcoholic fermentation is halted by the addition of wine spirit. After a set period of skin maceration, the moscatel wine is transferred to barrels to age and refine its richly aromatic profile. These wines are made from the various Moscatel grape varieties, internationally renowned for their aromatic richness and natural sugar concentration.
