A family business with almost two centuries of history that, never resting on its past achievements, has learned to modernise. José Maria da Fonseca has been producing wine since 1834, the result of a shared passion within a family that has preserved and projected the memory and prestige of its founder. Aware of its responsibility, it is currently the oldest table wine and Moscatel de Setúbal producer in Portugal, and José Maria da Fonseca follows a philosophy of continuous development, which leads it to invest ever more in research and production support, combining the most modern techniques with traditional know‑how. A prime example is the Adega José de Sousa Rosado Fernandes in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo, where the Roman tradition of fermenting in clay pots coexists with the latest technology.
