This “Private Selection” from Adega do Fundão, in limited edition, feels like it stepped straight out of a period film. Crafted with Syrah and Arinto, but with a deliciously enigmatic touch of unspecified, centuries-old vines – rumour has it, Roman origins! – it delivers a powerfully aromatic experience. Maturation in both French and Hungarian oak barrels adds a remarkable level of complexity, translating into peach aromas and beautifully layered notes. On the palate, it’s refreshingly vibrant and genuinely surprising, especially considering the age of the vineyards that gifted it to us, nestled at the foot of the Serra da Gardunha. Perfect with aged cheeses or a classic roasted chicken – a Beira Interior staple.
