Altano This fresh white wine comes from the Douro Valley in northern Portugal. It is made from grapes grown on the coolest, highest vineyards, where the ripening of the white grapes can be more uniform and homogeneous. Viticulturists aim for a balanced extraction of flavor. The result is an aromatic and zesty wine that showcases tropical fruit and a refreshing, crisp acidity. Made by the Symington family, producers of the Douro since the 19th century. Grapes come from Quinta da Fonte Branca near Lamego, and are selected from the Alijó and Favaios regions. Vinification: Vinification took place in the modern facilities of the Symington family at Quinta do Sol, equipped with the latest winemaking technology. The grapes were gently crushed after destemming, followed by some contact with the skins to extract desirable aromatic compounds. Fermentation was started in 20‑tonne stainless‑steel vats at a controlled temperature of 14–15 °C to preserve the primary aromas. The wine spent five months in stainless‑steel tanks with minimal oxygen contact to retain all of its aromatic freshness. Allergen information Contains sulfites. SKU: 100804
