This AMB Monte X Anos clearly had a turbulent youth, and the results are surprisingly engaging. Following careful hand-harvesting of Trincadeira, Aragonez, and Alicante Bouschet – with a full délestage to ensure a vibrant freshness – a cold pre-fermentation maceration, complete with a touch of thermal drama between 26-27°C, really unlocked the complexities of the grapes. A single year in 300L oak barrels – a wonderfully traditional approach! – has imparted a pleasant smoothness without sacrificing its Provençal character. Perfect paired with grilled beef, of course.
