This Beyra Quartz Reserva from Rui Roboredo feels like it’s sprung straight from a Madeiran fairytale. Hand-harvested with immediate crushing – the essentials for capturing a wine’s soul. The real magic lies in the blend of Gouveio, Síria, and Verdelho, grapes grown on vines seemingly perched atop granite slopes at 725 metres. The result is a remarkably mineral and citrine wine, with a hint of citrus and a whisper of smoked notes, as praised by Revista de Vinhos (17 points). It’s destined for a long, graceful ageing – a perfect accompaniment to a grilled white fish and, naturally, a generous portion of pastel de bacalhau.
