Casa Ermelinda Freitas Produced exclusively in years of exceptional quality, this signature wine stands as a true homage to the Castelão grape and the viticultural identity of the Fernando Pó region in Palmela. A rare and prestigious wine, born from vines over 60 years old and vinified with the utmost rigor, it is marked by elegance and complexity that make it an absolute reference for the house. Name: The core of the Fernando Pó coat of arms, a 17th‑century navigator, was a lion preparing to leap. It has leapt with this wine, Leo d’Honor, because it sounds like Leonor and truly represents the lion of honour among Fernando Pó wines, perhaps the most distinctive wine region in the country. Winemaker: Jaime Quendera. “In the glass, Leo d’Honor 2021 presents a deep and concentrated aroma, revealing ripe dark fruits, compote, spices, with hints of chocolate and tobacco from 18 months of aging in new French oak barrels, followed by an additional 12 months of bottle maturation. On the palate it is full-bodied, structured, with firm tannins and an elegant, persistent finish, confirming its great ageing potential.” – Revista Paixão pelo Vinho Awards Revista de Vinhos 2013 – Prémio Excelência (2008 vintage)
