This Cabernet Sauvignon from Casa Ermelinda Freitas is a seriously satisfying wine. Deep ruby in colour, reflecting the richness of the grapes from the Setúbal Peninsula, it bursts with aromas of dark fruit compote – almost a touch of confit, you know? Extended maceration and ageing in American and French *barricas de meia pipa* deliver an incredibly smooth tannin integration, resulting in a remarkably elegant and velvety experience. Seriously, it’s fantastic with a good roast or, if you’re feeling decadent, a confited lamb. A wine well worth keeping – the finish has a wonderful, lingering quality.
