Description

This Catarina is certainly making a good impression – it seems to know it. Grown in the Setúbal Peninsula with Castelão and Alicante Bouschet providing their characteristic notes, it’s a rich, full-bodied wine, perhaps a touch self-important. Half the recipe comes from French oak, lending vanilla and toasted nuances in an attempt to temper the intensity of the grapes. Having garnered 16.5 points from Grandes Escolhas, it’s clearly aiming to impress – though perhaps with a little overenthusiasm! Wonderful with anything you fancy, just don’t forget to consider the sulphites.
