This Château La Lagune, built around Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon, clearly needs a little time to fully unfurl. Don’t rush it – a couple of hours of decanting will do wonders to coax out its aromatic complexity. The older vintages simply require a gentle stir to release their aged secrets. With scores of 96/100 from James Suckling and 95/100 from Robert Parker, it’s a wine that demands patience and careful consideration – perhaps best enjoyed with roasted meats, like venison, to fully appreciate its depth.
