Ciel du Cheval 2015 is an unusual blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and one of the few wines made in the region without Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine takes its name from its home vineyard, Ciel du Cheval, situated within the Red Mountain area, famed for the high reputation of its Merlot. The calcareous soils, rich in calcium carbonate, produce high‑quality grapes, as yields are very limited. In addition, the wines from this vineyard are the most long‑lived and austere in its portfolio.
