This Dalva Reserva, straight from the ancient Douro vines, certainly seems to have had a spirited youth. Blended with a generous helping of Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz, it unfurls with a vibrant ruby hue and a promisingly complex character. The ageing in oak has imparted subtle notes of vanilla and coffee, while retaining the fresh, earthy quality of its origin. Critics have noted a beautiful aromatic profile – red fruits, spices – and surprisingly, a hint of slow-cooked beef – a wonderful pairing with a hearty roast, wouldn’t you say?
