“This ‘Trio’ from Domaine Berthet Bondet appears to have had a rather hurried encounter with the Douro berries. With a mere week of maceration, and the skins largely intact, the producer clearly favours immediate extraction – perhaps a touch too enthusiastic for the Pinot Noir and Bastardo. It’ll be fascinating to see if this results in a delightfully unrestrained burst of flavour, or genuinely captures the spirit of the vineyard. We’d recommend pairing it with black pork dishes to assess whether the boldness truly pays off.”
