This Savage Syrah, born from the granite slopes of Stellenbosch’s Southern Hills, is a bold statement – a wine that certainly delivers on complexity and elegance. The three months skin contact, particularly with whole bunches, slowly reveals layers of intensely concentrated aromas. Following a 13-month maturation in French oak barrels and a further 9 in conical foudres, this wine possesses remarkable ageing potential, demanding patience to truly unfold. A well-deserved 95/100 from Tim Atkin and 93/100 from Wine Spectator – truly a triumph. It would pair beautifully with a hearty, slow-cooked hare.
