This Esporão Reserva is a wonderfully convivial wine, clearly enjoying a lengthy chat with oak. Crafted exclusively from grapes grown on the estate, and produced using a biodynamic approach – one suspects it’s a significant part of its lively character. The winemaking is straightforward: gentle pressing, a temperature shock, and extended skin contact, all designed to coax the most from the Arinto, Antão Vaz, and Roupeiro grapes. A touch of French and American oak is, of course, added – let’s be honest, a wine without a little modern wood wouldn't be a particularly memorable one. The result is a refined white with a balanced profile of fruit and spice, finishing with a satisfying length, prompting one to wonder if the winemaker took a little nap before the tasting. A well-deserved 93 points from *Revista de Vinhos* confirms it!
